Buying Agent vs Listing Agent

Selling Agent vs Listing Agent Article

When you are thinking about buying or selling a home, your first call is to your mortgage provider and then a real estate agent. Real estate agents are extremely beneficial, whether you’re a first-time home buyer, a seasoned buyer, or you’re looking to sell your home. There are different specialties of real estate agents to fit your specific needs.

There are two main types of agents – buyer’s agents and listing agents.

Buyer’s Agent

A buyer’s agent works with clients looking to purchase a home. They help interpret their client’s wants, needs, and budget and start a productive home search. Using their knowledge and expertise of the housing market and different locations their buyers are interested in, they work to find homes their client will love. The buyer’s agent will also assist with offers and negotiations, legalities, and other steps of the process to help the buyer. Buyer’s agents may also be referred to as a selling agent. Ultimately, the buyer’s agent is concerned with helping their client make a good investment in their new home and advocating for their interests along the way.

Listing Agent

A listing agent works with homeowners that are interested in putting their home on the market to sell. The listing agent’s main goal is to get their client the most money for their house in the shortest amount of time possible. They create strategic plans for how they can market and sell the home. They also support by advising on how to prepare the home for showings and bringing interested buyers into the home.
